Hello, my name is Rosa Rashall. I am a Certified Nutrition Educator and a student in Hawthorn University’s Master’s of Holistic Nutrition. Welcome to my blog on Paths to Lyme Recovery. This blog is a work in progress, so if you can’t find posts that I refer to for further reading, feel free to comment and ask for the missing post that you would like to see written. I’ll do my best to oblige!
I came to the health care field because Lyme Disease was the last straw. When my husband Kevin and I were diagnosed with Lyme Disease and started antibiotic treatment, we quickly plateaued. Every time we stopped treatment we relapsed. What’s more, all the other nagging issues that had plagued us much of our lives could no longer be ignored. In fact, we found that without changing our diet to include animal protein, we could not progress; without correcting our hypothyroidism and supporting our adrenals, without working to heal leaky gut and eliminate giardia, we were unable to gain ground. With persistence, creativity, and continuing self-education, we are slowly but surely gaining ground. We hope that what we are learning along the way can help others who are suffering from Tick-Borne Diseases.
If you are here, you probably have a Tick-Borne Disease or you know someone who does. My heart is with you. There is not yet a well-traveled road to a cure for chronic Lyme disease. We as patients and as health care practitioners have to forge our own paths, with little support from insurance companies or mainstream researchers. But take heart! There are as many paths to a cure as there are people with Lyme disease. As the “open source” knowledge base continues to expand, ever more of us can achieve radiant good health. (Please see my Lyme-specific links to others who are sharing their own quest for health recovery.) I believe that with Lyme there is no one therapy that works for everyone. Read widely, talk to others, and choose the therapies that feel right. When the therapies that work for you are woven together intuitively as well as scientifically, your chances for recovery increase. When you engage your spirit through meditation or prayer, your chances increase exponentially.
